Können Sie English?

I am planning a layout of the run from Basel through the Jura to France. I have taken this several times. I have satellite images and topographic maps. I do not have any details on rolling stock.

I live in California. No one can help here.

Thank you for helping or directing me to someone who can help me.

hello Clark,

I live in Mulhouse, France, which is some 15 miles from Basel on the main "Ligne 4" from Paris (Gare de l'Est) to Basel; Mulhouse is the biggest french station on this line and we have here most of the french (SNCF) and swiss (SBB) rolling stock.

Mulhouse is the place where 2 very important lines cross each other; the first is the French Rhine Railway, which follows the Rhine through Elsass, from St.Louis (border town to Basel) up to Strasbourg (Strassburg), the same way as the german line does between Basel, Freiburg and Karlsruhe; the second is the "Ligne 4" Paris Est - Mulhouse, through Troyes, Chaumont, Chalindrey, Vesoul and Belfort, with connections to Lyon and the south of France.

thus, as the Ligne 4 is not electrified, but the Rhine Line is, we have all kinds of motive power, from TGV's (to Lyon and Marseille and starting from July, 2007, also the new TGV Est to Strasbourg and Paris) to the old DMU's and locos such as the classical Diesels BB67000 and CC72000 or the BB15000, 22000 or 26000 (Sybycs), or the newer BB 27000/37000; even the new MaK locos (BB 6x000) come in shunting services...
