Hello liebe modelbahnner
sorry if i write in english. I need help about the DB UIC-X: i see Arnold, Fleishmann and Minitrix produce these coaches, but all are slighty different between them, what's the right model to buy ( mit Kinematic)?
vielen danke
Fabio

Hello Fabio,

this question is not easy to answer. With the UIC-X coach you mean the DB standard coach with 26,4 m length. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/UIC-X-Wagen_%28DB%29

All of the producers built this coaches with a "Kinematik". At first Fleischmann, later came Minitrix, Arnold and at least Roco.

The modells from Fleischmann are all to highly (the roof, the bellows and boogies). The advantage is that many versions are avaiable.

The modells from Arnold look strange to me and have not the correct windows and some of them the wrong roof.  The plastic of the chassis sometimes deforms.

The best modells on the market are the coaches from Roco. They have the correct heights. The disadvantage is that they don't fit with the modells of the other producers and many versions are not available.

I prefer the modells from Minitrix. They are also a little bit to highly but you get nearly all versions of the coaches.

This question was already often discused here:

Hallo
thanks Markus for the reply. I read, or i try the posts on your link, but being inhexperience i need more help.
My problems is born when i buy a Arnold Bm 235 and a Fleishmann Bm 235, both cream/blu ocean,  (to create an international convoy with RIC SBB) the first one have 12 windows, while the second only eleven. The roof of the FL is height as the roof of a RIC SBB  Kato, while the Arnold is lower. The 2 roof are different, the arnold have air box in the center while FL on one side.
So if both are wrong, i have to search Roco art. 24494 and minitrix 15805-06 or 13341 right?
thanks again for the help
Fabio
Hello Fabio,

you can forget the the Arnold and the Fleischmann coaches. Both are toys

The Roco 24494 is not a Bm 235 but you can use it for your train. The modell is a Bm 232 and has only a maximum speed of 160 km/h.

The Minitrix 15805-06 is a Bm 235 and was most time used in Intercitys with 200 km/h.

The Minitrix 13341is a Bm 232. You can also use this coach.

Hi Fabio,

if I understand this correctly, you want to combine the SBB RIC (Kato) with DB UIC-X (m-wagon).

I have exactly the same problem, I like the RIC wagons, and I´d like to combine them in international trains with m-wagons (ideally Itailans, but that´s of course a similar problem).

- FLM is clearly not an option, they are ridiculously high (you may have seen the reports on the new CNL models from FLM in comparison with the nice LSM models). I think, it´s incredible that FLM still tries to sell us their crap models from the seventies.

- The Arnold ones I don´t know. They don´t seem a good option either, and the colours seem sometimes very strange to me.

- The MTX wagons look nice, and a large variety of colours and wagon types is available. However, they are also too high, unfortunately.

- I agree with Markus, the best option are the Roco models, although there seem to be only few versions available.

I attach some fotos to compare the Kato RIC with the MTX and Roco m-wagons. The first two pictures are Kato + MTX, the other two  are Kato + Roco.

Best wishes

  Andreas K.

The main problem using the Roco cars is, that there is no "ABm" and no "Am" available.
So i prefer Trix and the new! cars form Fleischmann 8640-8644.

I would not  consider the Arnold Bm235-coaches(#3970 and 3971) toys.
The roof is a little bit too low and Cuckoo fan is in the wrong place - for
sure, but in all other details, they beat the pants off Minitrix´ coaches,
but they are quite hard to find.

This is not correct. The Roco model is a Bm239. (Not only) the width of the toilet windows is different from the Bm232. The Bm239 series consisted of only 118 coaches and was built in 1966 by conversion of the couchette coaches Bcm241 and 251(formerly Bc4üm-53, -54). Maximum speed was limited to 140 km/h. Due to the small number of coaches the Bm239 was not typical for national or international trains. So forget about the Roco model and stick with the Trix Bm235 in blue/creme (15805-XX). In my opinion it seems to be the best of the worst.

Best regards, Carsten
