Hi all,

currently I am planning a new N scale layout together with getting a new flat - more space for my hobby :) The layout should be EpIV&V based. The layout should be Faller Car-system ready (yes, I bet on Faller they will produce more N-scale CS cars in the future, at least I hope so ...) and I would like to build some nice city with city railway included. My question is about firms producing models for city railway, where to look for some ? I heard something about Kato producing them but I am not sure, thnx a lot guys. Sorry for the text being in English but my German isnt the best in written form ;)

Hello Patrik,
Yes, you are correct, Kato produces tramways.
Also Arnold has many modells, but you might to have to buy them second hand, as the future of Arnold isn't clear yet.
Have a look at the N-model database under http://www.online-modellbahn.de/ and select Trams to get the information about available modells and companies.

Hi Patrik,

in addition to the histrical tram and the various Duewag types made by Arnold, and the Duesseldorfer Aufbauwagen made by Kato (which is almost sold out), there are also a few other tram models or kits available from some small manufacturers.

Historic tram car still used in Mainz:

Actual modern tram (model of a Combino type train):

An overview of available Kato, Hödl and Karsei models:

Furthermore there is a hobbyist manufacturer down in Burgenland, Austria named Dr. Friedrich Hradzil (he is in fact a medical doctor) who made up some Viennese tram and metro (Stadtbahn) cars out of Resine.
(don't get hold of the URL right now, I will add it here in the evening)

Bei der Gelegenheit fiel mir ein Eintrag in der N-Datenbank über ein ehemaliges Rollmodell von Brawa auf, dessen Weiterverfolgung durchaus interessant wäre:
http://www.leipzig-projekt.de/NDBPics/Brawa/1110.jpg
