TOPIK :Lenz LS100 versus LS150 ???

Hello.

LENZ  has 2 turnout decoders LS 100 and  LS 150
LS 100 controls 4 turnouts  with feedback
LS150 controls 6 turnouts without feedback

Lenz LS150 up to 2 times more cost effective than Lenz LS100

QUESTION:
When feedback of LS100 is needed, essential  or useful?

-------
Thanks,
Vadim

Hallo Vadim,
as far as I know from your former postings you don't use the RS-feedback-bus. So the feedback of LS 100 will be of no use to you.
The feedback is usefull if you use a PC-programm for controlling. But it isn't essential. Using LS 100 you can watch on the monitor the changes of the turnouts, when you turn them by hand for example. That's nice, but not essential.
Greetings
Friedhelm
Thanks, Friedhelm !

But how about task when I try to conduct my own train using Trottle through whole automated layout under IBM-PC control with running sheduled trains ?

Does RS feedback of LS-100  more essential in this case?

By the way, which program is more convenient  for  this ?
( JMRI or RocRail)?

---------
Thanks,
Vadim
Hallo Vadim,
I don't know those programms, you mentioned. I use the Lenz System (LZV 100, LI 101) and the traincontroller by Freiwald. On my monitor the turnouts are shown in the right way and the programm knows how they are. But when I run a train automaticly by the programm and it happens that a turnout would not switch, the programm would ignore this. So the only use of the feedback is, that the programm knows the actuell situation in the beginning. You could achive this also by creating a start-routine that switchtes all turnouts in a certain direction.
I bought the LS100 in the beginning, but after more expirience with the programm I wouldn't bey them again.
Greetings
Friedhelm
Ok, Thanks, Friedhelm !

But  for what purposes does LS100 intended?
May be,  are there some other essential task exists to approove high cost and RS feedback of LS100?
Registering of manual switching of turnout by IBM-PC program is not so important task for approving so high Cost.

Let us consider an example:
I use Trottle, connected to HUB as slave in parallel with working IBM-PC, and I try to switch turnouts by this trottle.

QUESTIONS:

1) Does IBM-PC programm would know the moment of switching  in this case without RS feedback(LS150), using only internal interconnection via HUB ?

2) Does IBM-PC programm would know the moment of switching  in this case with RS feedback(LS100)?

3) In addition, Does LENZ occupancy RuckMelders also use the same RS line ?

Hi,

LS100 feedback is intended for purposes such as
- to know the initial position of the turnouts for initializing the switchboard at start-up
- to check electrical and mechanical failures of the turnout motors

ad 1) depends on the command station - in case of Lenz and Roco the answer is YES because the command station stores all turnout states in EEPROM

ad 2) YES

ad 3) YES the do, as there is only one single RS bus on a Lenz  command station

Regards, Peter
Thanks, Peter.

Occasionally, I have ViessMann Commander 5300 for testing purposes.
It supports as DCC Roco as well as Motorolla formats, and can freely mix it in any combinations. It has simply s88 Ruckmelder bus.

(I have at  N-Scale: about 10  DCC locos, K83 motorolla turnout decoders and s88 ruckmelder bus. All works OK  together  with fully automated motion process!)

QUESTION:
Which bus is more fast:  RS bus or s88bus?

I have about 100 different block-sections in my layout, and all works with current sensors attached to s88 16X viessmann modules.

Now i m testing this device, being named by some deuthe people as "STRANGE"?

QUESTION:
By the way, Why Commander believed as so "strange"?

Thanks,
Vadim
