Hallo,

Hi Miguel,
I did answer on Dec. 6th. This is what i wrote:
Hi Miguel,
do I understand correctly, that you can turn off the red lights? So the circuit is working correctly?
Unfortunately I do not own this loco myself, this was a job for a friend, so I can't try it myself. As far as I know you have to have a quite new firmware on the decoder in order to make the "turning off switches" work. Do you have access to an MXULFA to update the decoder?
Best regards
Carsten

Hello Carsten,
Thank for your answer. Your email was sent to spam folder, so I can't see it.
White and red lights works ok, according direction of travel. So, I understand electronic circuit is working OK.
I have no MXULFA to update decoder. I have D&H Programmer (I had build many sound projects), ESU Lokprogrammer (some of them), CT Elektronik Programmer.... but no Zimo "programmer". If I need to update decoder firmware, I will think to purchase one of them, because I have some Fleischmann locomotives with sound and ZImo decoder.
Can you tell me something about the price for ZImo interface to update decoder?
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Miguel

Hello miguelidanez,
if you only want to use CV61 together with CV107/CV108 you cannot enforce turning off the red lights e. g. when switching to shunting lighting when you modified your loco according to Carsten's instructions.
The basic reason is that CV107/CV108 are "hardwired" to turn off the front light / rear light outputs (lv/lr). You can only ADDITIONALLY turn off another output (like AUX1, AUX2, ...) together with the lv/lr. So if you want to use this mechanism it is mandatory to have at least one of the red lights connected to one of the main light outputs. As far as I know Zimo introduced the CVs 107 and 108 for some Roco OEM project to turn off the driver's cabin lights.
This is why my original modification differs from Carsten's - I connected one side of the loco (red and white lights) to the extra outputs which makes it possible so suppress the red light via CV107/CV108 since one of the red LEDs stays connected to the main light outputs.
In case of Zimo sound decoders you can achieve the same result with a somewhat more complex programming of the "Swiss light mapping" CVs above CV400.
The suppression with CV107/CV108 is quite old and should already be implemented in all Taurus decoders. The Swiss mapping came later, so you may need to update the firmware.

Torsten

Thank you very much for the info!
I will try to update decoder firmware and try to get some working with "swiss light mapping."
Regards
Miguel

Hi Miguel,
you don't need the swiss mapping for this, CV 107 and 108 are enough and also work with shunting lights :) Just map the red lights to F0 using CV 33 and 34, then define in CV 107 and 108 which lights you want to turn off and which key you want to use for this. A firmware newer than 33.18 is required to do so.
You might also want to map the sounds to other keys. Use the CV 300 method for this.
Viele Grüße
Carsten
